  1. Perceivable
  2. Operable
  3. Understandable
  4. Robust

Amazing Accessible Ads!

Filed under: General — Mamta Tandel @ 5:59 pm

Hello everyone,

Would like you all to see these amazing ads with a beautiful concept of using cartoons who appear to be having some sort of disabilities. These cartoons are shown expressing their feelings and frustrations which they face in their day-to-day lives due to the inaccessible environment around them.

These are must see ads!! For those who find it difficult to understand the foreign accent, do not worry. These ads include subtitles as well as a full text transcript of all the ads!!! An the best part it also includes a sign language interpreter!!!

Check out these ads at:

Accessibility support for Flash in Firefox

Filed under: Flash — Shilpi Kapoor @ 11:15 am

Using accessible Flash in Firefox is now possible. Adobe has launched new flash player version 9,0,115,0 which has MSAA support for Firefox. I don’t know the exact results of it with flash. But, I hope it will be consistent like IE or even better.

Download new flash player.

peace, veiky

World Disability Day!

Filed under: General — Shilpi Kapoor @ 7:36 pm

It’s the 3rd December, this days marks World Disability Day!

When i think of what this means, I wish it was about taking the ‘dis’ out of the disability. I wish it was about showcasing the abilities of these persons.

I am not an activitist or into advocacy. I run a company where i believe that people with disabilities should also have a choice. A choice to go to whichever mall they want to, a choice to see whichever channel on tv, use whichever mobile they want.

Can we change the perspective of people? Can we change this day to showcase what they can do?

We at Barrierbreak have been so involved with Techshare India 2008 that we didnt have the time to plan anything special for this day.

I would like to just tell the persons with disabilities, that you are no different than others. You have the ability to do everything, anyone else can do. So dont ask for what you need for your disability, but show people the ability in you!

P.S. These are purely my views!
