My first experience at Bangalore International Airport

Filed under: Elderly, General, Visual — Shilpi Kapoor @ 2:46 pm

Hi everyone!

It was 8:00 AM yesterday I landed at Bangalore International Airport. Right from the aircraft, I got the air-bridge till 1st Floor of the airport and then I used escalator to reach ground floor. One thing I liked is the sign boards indicating way to different areas are provided with a larger font which made me easy to find out the Information Centre and gate number on my return.

Lifts have Braille labels and audio alerts were provided. However, it was a bit difficult to find the locations of buttons as they were in same color of the wall. But interesting thing is buttons were given horizantally and at low height. It would help people who use wheel chair to access independently.

Partitions are made up of glass and it was difficult to identify as the floor was also in the same color though there were few chairs attached to partition.

Further, Step edges of stair case are not marked with different color and hence it was difficult to identify steps.

Overall, color contrast need to be taken care in a better way and it would have been good if the floor has little rough surface.
