Inclusive Libraries

A step towards making libraries disabled friendly.

How it works

Access to appropriate curriculum, learning materials, textbooks, periodicals and journals is very critical for education and dissemination of information. For any additional requirement of information other than those from the textbook, a student seeks the vast resources available in a library which is a common place that everyone needs access to.

However, the libraries and its resources are not accessible to students with disability. As a result a significant number of students are unable to access information thereby hindering their education and growth. BarrierBreak supports education institutes like Schools, Colleges & Universities to plan inclusive libraries. In addition, BarrierBreak can manage the inclusive library for an education institute through Project Navaloka where we also provide staff to manage the inclusive library for students with disabilities.

  • Provide equal access to libraries and build inclusion and diversity
  • Community based usage of Assistive technology so as to enable students with disabilities to access books
  • Ensure students with disabilities get access to books in braille, large print and digital talking books
  • Promote the integration of students with disabilities in education institutes
